NMHS BAND PARENTS MEETING MINUTES

OCTOBER 20, 2009

Dr. Carlone called the meeting to order at 7:02pm.  Chris did a recap of the minutes from the previous meeting.  The minutes were accepted by Jan Strelez and seconded by Mary Mercer.

The first order of business was the Home Show.  It was a huge success and great complements were received from many, the judges were especially happy.  Thanks to Krista and Sharon for a wonderful job.  Our Winter Guard show is in February and we would like to have the same success.

Carol Stone offered the Treasury Report which was accepted by Chris Pahner and seconded by Sharon Chamberlin.  Carol also reported on the Concert Attire which would be available in the near future for fittings.

Chris Carlone informed that tickets must be purchased by all attending the next performance which is a USSBA competition.

Kathy Brown reported on our Fund Raising efforts.  The pie sale had ended and been submitted to the vendor.  Pies will be available for pick up in the cafeteria on Friday, November 20th from 4-6 pm. Any pies not picked up get donated to Loaves and Fishes as we can not store them.  We will be selling Holiday Wreaths and Fruit from October 22nd to November 13th.  The students will be able to earn funds towards the trip to Chicago in April from these sales. She is also looking into doing a “Tribute to Michael Jackson” in the auditorium this winter but is still working out the details and trying to get the permission from the school.

Sharon Chamberlin spoke of the upcoming Dinner Dance for the adults that will be held at the Candlewood Golf Club on November 21st.  Tickets are on sale now.  This is our 3rd Annual Dinner Dance and it is a great opportunity for the adults to get out and have a good time.   Sharon also wanted to thank all of the volunteers at the home show and the weekly chaperones.

Chris ended the meeting with a discussion on the growth of the band and mentioned how important our fund raising is to enhance the program.

Mary Mercer and Jan Strelez made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Brown for

Krista Roberts
