UPDATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
-
2010 CHICAGO TRIP
December 12,, 2009
A message from the President,
There will be no band
parent meeting for the month of December.
I would like to extend a huge congratulations to our hard working students
for another successful season of Marching Band and Guard. And thank you to all the great parent volunteers who helped.
As you know this program has rapidly grown and we are in the midst of producing a fabulous Winter Guard Show and a full
Drum Line show schedule. That means props, transportation, and trucking needed for equipment.
Most importantly we need you to come out and support the students.
Please start by making every effort to attend the Dec 17th concert. It is a great showcase to enjoy the talents
of these children while not freezing on metal bleachers.
Please watch your emails for the upcoming
Guard and Drum Line show schedules. As always, thank you all for everything you do to support this program...

CONCERT
ATTIRE: Our upcoming concert is December 17th. Ladies are required to wear a black
dress (no shorter than knee length) and black shoes. Guys are required to wear a tuxedo shirt and black bow tie, black
pants and a black jacket. The dresses and tuxedo shirt/bow ties are available for order through the NMHS Band Parents.
We will be fitting students who wish to order (they are not required to order through the Band Parents – you may buy/borrow
on your own) on Tuesday, November 10th from 4:30pm – 5pm (before band rehearsal).

FUNDRAISERS
Please keep a record of what you have sold in the Wreath and Fruit fundraisers. You may
apply this credit to your last payment to Global Endeavors. Do not stress though – Mrs. Stone keeps very good
records. If you wind up overpaying, any extra you sell will graciously go to the General Fund and, of course, will be
put to excellent use to augment this marvelous program.
SAFETY
RULES:
The school district has mandated that all volunteers who
have contact with the students must be fingerprinted. The schools will hold dates to have this done at no cost to the
volunteer. If you do ANY volunteering within the school district, you will need to have this done. This is pretty
standard nowadays, so New Milford is just joining in with the crowd.
In addition, Mr. Grauer has also instituted a few safety
rules specifically for the band.
- No siblings are allowed to ride the buses
to the competitions.
- No children under 18 are allowed to serve/handle/prepare
food at the Home Show.
- No children under 18 (including band students)
are allowed in/on the equipment truck. They can be handed items, but may not go on the ramp, in the back or cab of the
truck.

We need donations of cases of bottled water to
bring to the competitions. If you are able to donate, please drop off the water at any time during rehearsals.

There is one way to raise funds for the NMHS Marching Band and Color Guard that
is easy and free. The best part is, it won't
cost you a penny.
We are registered with GOODSEARCH.
Goodsearch is a search engine, like any other but with one difference - the NMHS Band and Guard get one penny every time you click to search for a topic.
Now that may not seem like a lot but those pennies really add up, especially if all band parents and students start using
Goodsearch.
This program has
the potential to raise significant and unprecidented funds for our kids, providing we can get everybody to participate.
In addition, Goodsearch is affiliated with numerous businesses that will donate a percentage of
your purchases to the NMHS Band & Guard. They include Amazon, Wal Mart, Sears, iTunes, L.L. Bean, Best Buy and many
others.
So, won't you please help our kids by using this search engine? All you have to do is to add www.goodsearch.com to your favorites, designate NMHS Band Parents as your charity
of choice, and then use Goodsearch for all of your internet searches.
It's that simple.

As
always, thank you for your support.

an important message regarding our photos
You may be aware of other photo
services shooting images of our kids in competition and making them available for sale. We ask that you compare their prices to our prices, their
variety to our variety and their quality to our quality. Futhermore, our organization enjoys no financial
benefit from those sales. They make no contribution to our Band or Guard.
Please remember...
Our photos are far less expensive than any outside service.
All of our photographers are professional or serious amateurs
and shoot with top-shelf equipment.
Our photographers know our kids and know our show.
Our photographers shoot only our kids.
Our photographers attend and shoot at all events; not just
championships.
Our photographers are all volunteer; they take no pay.
ALL PROCEEDS (after lab costs) go directly back the
NMHS Band Parents to support the band & guard.
So, please visit our extensive galleries to make your photo
selections. Our images make great mementos of these wonderful years and, at the same time, help to provide much needed
funds for our kids.
